New PlayStation 5 model appeared in Australia
A revised version of the PlayStation 5 has quietly gone on sale in Australia. Don’t expect anything from this new model because the only difference is its weight.
While the PS5 launch hardware uses a CFI-1XXX model numbering scheme, the one listed in the Sony documentation and found in the Australian model spotted this week uses the new CFI-11XX scheme.
According to the news of PressStart; Like the hardware overhaul detailed last month, the updated PS5 has been confirmed to have a new screw to attach the console to its stand, and can now be adjusted manually rather than with a screwdriver. The new hardware is also said to be lighter than the PlayStation 5 console, which launched at 3.6kg, or 300g lighter than the original hardware. It’s unclear if any other changes have been made to the internal hardware.
It is among the news that Sony plans to start production on a PS5 hardware redesign featuring a “new semi-customized” 6nm CPU from AMD in 2022.
