‘League of Legends’ World Championship moved from China to Europe
Riot Games has changed its plans for the 2021 League of Legends World Championship (aka Worlds).
The event was supposed to take place in China for the second year in a row, but due to travel restrictions caused by the rapid spread of the COVID-19 Delta variant, the event will be held in Europe this year.
John Needham, Riot’s head of global esports“We have come to a point where it is extremely difficult to guarantee that qualifying teams and their best players will be able to qualify for the World Championship this year” said. And added; “After considering all possible options, we concluded that moving Worlds to Europe provides the best opportunity for most teams and their best players to compete.”
